West Park Primary School Vision and Values

“Learning to improve.”

At West Park Primary School, we believe each learner should aspire to meet their potential educationally, socially and emotionally. Our broad, balanced, creative curriculum and enrichment activities provide opportunities for everyone to achieve and succeed.

We value respect, treating other people, places and things the way you want to be treated. Our pupils know, if you give respect, you’ll earn it back.

We value friendship, a positive relationship between people who care about each other. Friendship promotes a feeling of happiness as a result of spending time in the company of others.

We value community, both within and outside the School, and the need for all children to be positive and productive members of society. When our values are actively engaged, the result is a supportive environment where everyone feels that they belong.

We value determination, the ambition to achieve excellence, to be motivated to be the best we can be. We show determination by:

  • Believing in ourselves and having an “I can” attitude.
  • Aiming high
  • Showing perseverance in working towards our goals
  • Not limiting ourselves

We value honesty, being truthful to yourself and others. When you are honest, you feel clear inside. Honesty is saying what really happened. An honest person is someone you can trust. If you’re honest with yourself, you can accept you’ve made mistakes and will try and put them right.

We value kindness, being friendly, generous, and considerate. As a school we openly reward such attributes as gentleness, concern, and care – words that are associated with kindness. Being kind often requires courage and strength.

We value the acceptance and fair treatment of all people in our community and across the world. Tolerance and compassion are highly regarded and actively pursued. We encourage the development of a wide range of curricular and co-curricular opportunities throughout the School to help facilitate individual talents and interests.
